Hey guys, I want to record a guitar through my amp into Garage band. The clean tones are just amazing, but not happy with any of the distortion stuff it has to offer, so I want to record from my amp. Do I just plug my mic up to my amp and plug into Garage Band? Or are there other steps to this process? If there are, could someone please tell me what I would need to get to find the best result with no hassle. Thanks!! Check out my band here, if you are interested in any Progressive music!: www.myspace.com/gravity33

I am recording my electric guitar under "real instrument track". I have set the preferences in GB to audio input and output as a built-in. No sound is coming when I play my guitar, even though I have it hooked up to a pre-amp and then into my MacBook. WHY ISN'T THERE SOUND!

I recently bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro. A bit of investment at $200 but it works great with no delay in recording. Definitely do not have an action plan of being a musician, but recording has inspired me to maybe try to just work out my ability and see where it could go. I was going to get the Line 6 pre-amp interface but was sold on the durability of the M-audio and the various other Midi lines in and stereo outputs.

Hey,

Just had a look at stealthplug and it seems pretty hot.
It should work flawlessly with Garageband. If I had a mac, I'd buy that straight away. Due to lack of funds, I'm pretty screwed at the moment. It seems like a decent bit of kit anyway. Should prevent your delay too, Steve.

Have fun guys.
