…The Rock Gods Blog Too!

January 19, 2006

I never cease to be amazed at the people out there who are blogging. Some of the most talented, legendary people are now writing the web. Recently it came to my attention that two of my favorite british guitar gods, David Gilmour (of need I say Pink Floyd) and Pete Townshend (of need I say The Who) both keep blogs! In fact when I open my RSS reader the first feeds I check out are always these two.

Pete Townshend

Pete Townshend’s blog was started back in September 2005 and is a publishing forum for a novella that Townshend is writing called The Boy Who Heard Music which is a semi-autobiographical tale of a rebelious young man named Spin. What a great forum a blog is for writing a book. Pete gets instant feedback from readers as he posts new chapters. I’m interested to see what Pete does with his novella when he is finished writing it. Will he publish it into a book and/or will he keep it up on the web for free?
David Gilmour

David Gilmour’s blog is more of a way for Gilmour to keep in communication with his fan base. Lately he’s been colaborating with David Crosby and Graham Nash. Gilmour has also been touring all over the place. Many of th entries seem to be written by Gilmour’s publicist, but its still very cool to be informed about what he is up to. I used to think that Gilmour and the other members of Pink Floyd were pretty much retired, but actually Gilmour seems to stay very busy both in the studio and on stage.
I can’t wait to see who starts publishing next and I wonder who is publishing now that I don’t know about . If you have any suggestions of unlikely or interesting bloggers, please share!
