Mark Ryden
If you’ve never heard of Mark Ryden, you are in for a treat if you are a fan of Alice In Wonder Land or you like “not of this world” artwork. His works are hard to describe but they deal with all sorts of themes from the female body to red meat to bunnies to buddhism to christianity. His style is very unique and his ability to paint the subtlest of intricacies in the human form is mind blowing. I wonder what is going on in Ryden’s head to be able to create such out there stuff. You can check out his website here.
I was watching the show Miami Ink on TLC the other day and saw one of the tattoo artists create an amazingly accurate Mark Ryden tattoo.

That’s so cool - I was watching the same show last night where Chris did that awsome tattoo of Ryden’s painting - I thought it was great…. makes me want to go to Miami for a Tattoo

When it comes to tattoos, quality definitely does vary. It pays to shop around. I get all my stuff from Alonzo at Happy Timez who is the best black and gray tattoo artist I’ve seen. His portraits are amazing!

I really love Mark’s work. I have one of his prints, and a bunch of his other stuff as well. I don’t have a tattoo but said if I ever broke down and got one it would be a Ryden painting, but I thought no one could do his work justice. I wish I could see what it looked like.

I couldn’t find a pic of the tattoo they did on Miami Ink, but I did find another tattoo of the same image. You can see it at http://tattoo.about.com/library/bljoef042405b.htm. BTW, I love your site Beaver Cheese, very entertaining. Its in my feed reader in my non work friendly sites!
