The new Flaming Lips album At War With The Mystics is scheduled for release on May 28. I’m dying for some more Flaming Lips, I’ve played out my collection. In the meantime to keep your ears occupied and your fake blood flowing you can stream WAND here:
One of my favorite blogs, Rock ‘n Reel is written by Justin Kreutzmann, film maker extraordinaire and son of Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann. Justin has a very interesting perspective on the world having grown up at Dead shows. Justin recently posted this really great photograph of Jerry Garcia’s guitars:
I guess some billionaire bought them a few years back. It seems a shame to me to put a price on them. I’m glad to see that they are on public display. Like any historical piece of americana, these guitars should be seen by people as they carry with them a piece of history that was shared by everybody.
Justin Kreutzmann’s films are really spectacular, you can just see the natural talent in his approach. One of my favorite films that Justin did is The Thrill Is Gone video with Jerry Garcia and David Grisman.
