I’ve been listening to and thinking about Stevie Ray Vaughan quite a bit lately. There was a great article in the Austin Chronicle a couple months ago about some recovered early recordings from 1978 which kicked off yet another rediscovery of SRV for me. I’ve got a few live recordings but this show is the best live Stevie Ray that I have in my collection. It will blow your mind if you are a big Stevie Ray fan and turn you into a fan if you aren’t. The Little Wing is bone chilling. I can’t imagine the energy in the air on that summer night at Red Rocks when Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble blew the place away.
If you’d like a lossless copy, you can download it FLAC here.

Thanks for posting this – it’s FANTASTIC stuff.
Pat, thanks for the correction. Glad you enjoyed the show!
WoW: Thank-You
I was there but spent most of my time back stage and in the tunnel. I wish there was a video so I could relive it whenever I want to.
I was at this show and just talking on Facebook about it today. Taj Mahal and Bonnie Raitt opened up the show and they were awesome, but nothing like when SRV walked out on stage. The breeze starts blowing, the lights heat up and he starts strumming. Wow, what great memories! I went to see him again at the Colorado State Fair that same summer and he didn’t fail to impress. Funny how you can hear just a short riff and know it is SRV. RIP!
Sorry Kelly you are mistaken on the year, I was defiantly at RR1985-06-19, listen to the recording, Stevie thanks BB King, Albert King & Bobby Blue Bland, who were the other performers at Blues On The Rocks 1985. not Taj or Bonnie, not sure what year that was exactly. I may have a recording of that show though too..
this particular bootleg is also incomplete, I have a complete analog tape of this one * SDB0 that has recently been digitized and now remastered.. will be posted at my site later today..
then energy was magic indeed
